Christian Dior Inspiration Never Dies

Christian Dior was born in Normandy, France in 1905. Dior moved to Paris where he attended college and majored in Political Sciences. Like all young men of the time Christian served in the military during non-war times. Christian career as a designer did not begin until 1938, when his sketches caught the eye of designer Robert Piguet who hired Dior immediately.

After serving in the South of France during World War II, Dior returned to Paris in 1941. He designed for Lucien Lelong, a prominent designer of the time, until 1946 when Marcel Boussac, a textile manufacturer, recognized his talent for design and backed Dior in his own design house. Christian Dior was credited for building Paris back up as the fashion capital of the world after World War II ended. Paris was in shambles and needed the inspiration that only Christian Dior could offer through his glorious fashion designs.

During this time, each of Christian Dior fashion lines had a unique theme. The figure eight design silhouetted a women body making her waist appear to be very small for example. This was on the first of many designs that accentuated a women body, giving the appearance of more feminine clothing. It was stunning.

Although Christian Dior styles imitated historical styles of the past for women, he also designed a line of clothing for men. And these fashions where just as sought after as the women clothing lines. Dior designs were part of every wardrobe in high society.

By 1948 Christian Dior was established as a leader in the fashion industry. Christian Dior had broken into the fur and perfume industry as well. People flocked stores to purchase the latest fashions and perfumes of Dior non stop, shops could barely keep anything in stock.

Christian Dior was a leader in the fashion industry for many years. His untimely death in 1957 left the world with a void. His original designs died with him, but the spirit in which he designed is still inspired in the Christian Dior product line. For Christian Dior, fashion was everything. It was his World.

His reputation as one of the top fashion designer of the twentieth century was made with his first line of clothing in 1947; his designs reigned supreme in the fashion industry. Christian Dior took fashion to a whole new level with his designs and he revolutionized the fashion industry with his designs and ideas.
